At Les Producteurs de pommes du Québec (PPQ), we take the protection of the information we hold about you very seriously.

As part of our activities and mission, we process information about individuals that allows them to be identified. This is personal information.

1. Purpose of the policy

This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and retain the personal information of apple growers, visitors and users of the PPQ website (you). It also explains how this personal information may be accessed and corrected if necessary.

By submitting personal information to us through this website, by e-mail, by telephone, in person, or by any other means, you agree to its processing as set out in this policy and you authorize PPQ and its service providers to process your personal information for the purposes set out below.

3. What information do we collect?

A. The information you provide
We collect personal information from you when you :

  • Contact us by phone or e-mail;
  • Fill in a form to register for a training course or event;
  • Fill out a form to subscribe to our newsletters.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include your first and last name, contact information (e-mail, telephone number, region), curriculum vitae, questions, comments, requests for information and preferences.

B. Information collected through agreements
To enable us to meet our legal obligations, notably under the Professional Syndicates Act, the PPQ also collects personal information through an agreement with the Union des producteurs agricoles.

C. Information collected through our website
We use Google Analytics to analyze the browsing behavior of visitors to the PPQ website. This tool is used to analyze website traffic and usage.

Google Analytics collects the following information:

  • the number of visitors to the site;
  • type and version of browser and operating system used (Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.);
  • device category, make and model;
  • screen resolution and other technical parameters;
  • date, time and average duration of visits;
  • pages consulted;
  • the address of referring sites, if visitors come to the site from another platform;
  • the city in which the site was consulted;
  • the region in which the site was consulted;
  • the country in which the site was consulted;
  • sex;
  • age;
  • language;
  • interests.

The information collected by Google Analytics is used to analyze the use of our website and to produce statistical reports on visitor activity so that we can improve our tools and the overall user experience.

We also use cookies and similar tools on the Web site. Cookies are files that are installed on your Web browser or on the hard drive of your computer or mobile device in order to collect certain information. This information may include the date, time and duration of your visits, your browsing history and your browser type and version. This information is collected automatically in order to optimize your experience on our site, notably by remembering your settings and preferences. Cookies are stored on your device until you delete them from your browsing history.

4. How is your information used?

We mainly use your personal information:

The personal information we collect will be accessible primarily to PPQ staff members.

However, no Internet transmission method or electronic storage medium is 100% secure. We therefore cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Nor can we guarantee that such information will not be accessed, obtained, disclosed, altered or destroyed as a result of a breach of our safeguards. 6. With whom do we share your personal information?

We do not share your personal information with third parties without your consent, except in the following cases:

  • To our service providers, partners or advisors, where such information is necessary for the performance of their services or functions (for example, the provider of data hosting and Web site design services);
  • In all cases where such communication is permitted or required by law (for example, in the case of a court order).

7. Retention of personal information

Your personal information is hosted on servers located in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada. The information we transmit to our service providers may be communicated outside Quebec.

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to conduct our business.

8. Destruction of personal information

Once the purposes for which the personal information was collected have been achieved, the information is destroyed or anonymized in a secure manner.

9. Access and rectification rights

Upon written request and subject to proof of identification, you may request access to your personal information or rectify any incomplete or inaccurate personal information we hold about you.

However, to ensure that the information we hold is complete and accurate, please inform us promptly of any changes to your personal information.

Upon written request and proof of identification, you may revoke your consent to the disclosure or use of your personal information. Please note that the withdrawal of your consent will have no effect on communications of information previously made with your initial consent.

11. Unsubscribe

When you subscribe to any of the newsletters offered in the newsletter subscription section, the e-mail address you provide will be used by PPQ to send you newsletters with a variety of content, according to your preferences.
If you no longer wish to be on our mailing lists, simply unsubscribe by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each newsletter to which you are subscribed.

12. Links to external websites

The PPQ Web site contains links to other sites, external to PPQ, such as partner and government sites. This policy does not extend to these Web sites. By clicking on these links, you will automatically be directed to them. We have no control over their operation and cannot be held responsible in any way for the privacy policies, procedures and practices of these third parties or in any other respect whatsoever.

PPQ reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify the contents and policies at any time. PPQ therefore invites you to consult them regularly as changes may be made. By using the PPQ website, you agree to be bound by any such changes.
