Apple and caramel crumble (no refined sugar)

Ingredients

The fruits

  • 6 apples, chopped with or without peel
  • 100 g (1/3 cup) Madame Labriski Date Purée (with caramel, it's divine)
  • 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon

The crispness

  • 150 g (1/2 cup) Madame Labriski date purée
  • 50 g (1/4 cup) vegetable oil (canola, sunflower or olive)
  • 115 g (1 1/4 cups) quick-cooking rolled oats
  • 100 g (1 cup) ground almonds
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon artificial toffee essence (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Prepare the apples and cut into pieces.
  3. Place apple pieces in a bowl and mix with 1/3 cup date purée and ground cinnamon.
  4. Coat the mould with a light grease and pour in the apple pieces.
  5. Place ½ cup date purée, vegetable oil, rolled oats, ground almonds, salt and caramel essence (if desired) in bowl and mix well.
  6. Pour the crisp over the apple pieces.
  7. Bake for approximately 45 minutes at 180°C (350°F).
  8. Cool and serve.

Isn't it amazing how good this dessert tastes with no added refined sugar?
