Chocolate apple pudding

Ingredients

For apples

  • 60 ml (¼ cup) butter
  • 180 ml (¾ cup) brown sugar
  • 4 apples, peeled and sliced (Cortland)

For the pudding 

  • 125 ml (½ cup) butter
  • 80 ml (1/3 cup) brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 125 ml (½ cup) liquid warm Dulce Chocolats Favoris fondue
  • 2.5 ml (½ tsp.) soda
  • 80 ml (1/3 cup) hot water
  • 250 ml (1 cup) flour
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) baking powder
  • 0.5 ml (1/8 teaspoon) salt
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) ginger
  • 2.5 ml (½ tsp.) cinnamon

Preparation

For apples:

  1. Melt the butter in the microwave.
  2. Mix in a 9" x 9" pan with the brown sugar and apple slices.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

 

For the pudding:

  1. Meanwhile, mix the butter and brown sugar in a bowl.
  2. Then add the egg and beat.
  3. Add the chocolate and beat.
  4. Place all dry ingredients except soda in a measuring cup. Mix soda with hot water in another measuring cup.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the mixture, alternating with the hot water and soda. Finish with the dry ingredients.
  6. Remove the apples from the oven, and spoon the pastry over the apples.
  7. Bake the pudding at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
