Ingredients

Looking for an express, comforting dessert that's perfect for the sugaring season? Discover our pudding-style mugcake with Empire apples and Quebec maple syrup, ready in less than two minutes! This ultra-easy individual dessert is prepared directly in a mug, offering a soft, gourmet result with a delicious sweet coulis at the bottom.

Quebec Empire apples, picked locally at the peak of ripeness, give this mugcake a melt-in-the-mouth texture, a perfect balance of sweetness and light acidity, and a crunchy touch that makes every bite irresistible.

For the dough:

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons milk or vegetable drink
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp. apple cubes Quebec Empire apples

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbsp. maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp. 15% cream
  • 1 tablespoon hot water

Preparation

In a microwave-safe mug, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add milk, applesauce, oil and maple syrup. Mix well to form a smooth dough. Add the diced apples and stir gently to combine.

In a small bowl, combine the maple syrup, cream and hot water, then pour gently over the dough without stirring. Microwave for approx. 1 min 30 to 1 min 35 (depending on power). The top should be cooked, and a sweet sauce will form underneath. Leave to rest for 1 minute and serve hot.

To make a success of your mugcake:

  • Choose a cup large enough to avoid overflowing during cooking.
  • For an even more gourmet touch, sprinkle your mugcake with crunchy pecans or a pinch of cinnamon.
  • Need a dairy-free version? Simply replace the cream with soy cream or coconut milk.
