The Spartan, with its chubby shape and beautiful red complexion, is one of the crunchiest!
Introduced to orchards in 1936, this variety is the result of a cross between the McIntosh and Yellow Newton Pippin varieties, and was developed at the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley.
