Tips and tricks
- Choose firm, flavorful apples such as Spartan,Empire, or Honeycrisp. They provide a nice balance between melt-in-the-mouth texture and firmness.
- Ensure that the base is well compacted and evenly coated before baking to achieve a golden brown and crispy texture.
- Taste the filling before assembling: you can adjust the amount of caramel to suit your taste or add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg.
- This dessert pizza is best when it is still slightly warm, with the caramel nicely melted.
- Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream just before serving.
