Grilled apple and maple brioche on the BBQ

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil (for barbecue grill)
  • 3 large apples, grated
  • 110 g (4 oz) chopped walnuts
  • 5 tbsp. maple sugar
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) sweet cider
  • 4 large cinnamon buns
  • 110 g (4 oz) melted butter
  • 250 ml (1 cup) caramel sauce
  • A few mint leaves

Preparation

  1. Preheat grill to medium. Lightly oil the grill.
  2. In a bowl, combine grated apples, walnuts, 3 tbsp. maple sugar and cider. Cover and set aside.
  3. Place buns on hot barbecue grill. Cook for about 3 minutes on each side.
  4. Using tongs, transfer toasted buns to plates. Drizzle with melted butter. Sprinkle with remaining maple sugar.
  5. Garnish plates with grated apple mixture. Drizzle with caramel sauce. Serve immediately with mint leaves.
