Gala
| For baking | To crunch | Availability: late September to April |
Gala's flesh is yellow, juicy, very firm and crispy . Attractive for its striped colors and shape, this fruit has a smooth, thin skin that resists bruising very well. It's a lovely apple to eat fresh.
Introduced to orchards in 1965, the Gala variety originated in New Zealand. It is one of the most widely grown varieties in the world, and production is increasing in Quebec.
