Apples au gratin with corn flakes

- 2 tablespoons butter + 2 tablespoons (for the mould).
- 250 ml (1 cup) applesauce
- 6 large apples, quartered
- 200 g (1 cup) sugar
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 25 g (1 cup) corn flakes
- 25 g (1/4 cup) shredded coconut
- 1 tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. melted butter
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Butter a deep casserole dish.
- Pour the applesauce into the buttered mould.
- Melt 2 tbsp. butter in a frying pan. Add apple wedges and sauté over medium heat for 6 minutes. Transfer the mixture to the pan. Sprinkle with sugar and nutmeg.
- In a bowl, combine cornflakes, shredded coconut and brown sugar. Spread mixture over apples. Drizzle with melted butter.
- Bake for about 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and serve immediately.
